Gulch Tree Walks are starting up

Spring is coming, and our neighborhood trees are starting to bud and flower. You are invited to join our guided Gulch Tree Walks each season to witness our trees as they blossom, fruit, share their yield, and benefit our lives. The first themed tree walk is coming up!

  • Flowering Trees, April 19, 1–2:30 p.m., led by Tree Team member and arborist Biz Miller. (Sign-up details will be distributed in early April. Limit 15.)

Future themed Gulch Tree Walks:

  • Benefits of Trees (July, details TBD)

  • Fall Colors (September Gulch-o-Rama)

  • Bounty of Trees (October, details TBD)

Our guided tree walks are a special opportunity to learn about these towering giants that give us shade, peace, and more. Did you know that only a handful of Portland neighborhoods has a Tree Team?

Enrollment in these walks is limited. Due to strong demand, we may need to add more walks! If you have tree expertise and would enjoy leading future Gulch Tree Walks, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact Mary Kinnick at marykinnick@gmail.com.

Enjoy Gulch Tulip Trees!

SGNA features two heritage Tulip Trees, which are defining features of our beautiful neighborhood. Check them out as they enter their April–June blossoming season. You can find them at 1403 NE Weidler and 2404 NE Clackamas. (Photos are not of our trees.)

Last chance for discounted trees

Treebate Program offers savings for the cost of a tree that you plant. This wonderful program, spotted by a member of the SGNA Tree Team, is being retired. If you’ve been thinking about buying a tree for your garden, you can get a great discount if purchased by April 30, 2026. Click here for details.
